Who is Dezi?

Dezi is a black, gay, Christian, genderqueer theatre maker from Roselle, New Jersey. She is passionate, energetic, and will always bring 110% into a rehearsal process.
Dezi loves pushing stylistic boundaries and often finds himself gravitating toward stories that focus on one of her intersections: blackness, queerness, and spirituality. Though her first passion was musical theatre, Dezi finds himself thoroughly enjoying the work that goes on behind the table. He thrives on collaboration and is happiest during a 6-hour team brainstorming session. Her work is empathetic, academic, and always asks big questions: it’s zany and all over the place but grounded in research and honesty. Through his performance, dramaturgy, and writing, she hopes to discover and share the beauties in life.
